The point: Because I could not trust Angi to recommend an actual professional, I decided to build a patio myself.
Rebuilding … Properly
After demolishing Isaiah Armstrong’s incompetent “work,” I still needed a patio built. But it was obvious after this experience that I could not trust Angie’s List / Angi as they are apparently nothing more than lead generations for contractors at this point. Obviously I could not pour concrete by myself (or I would never have hired Isaiah Armstrong in the first place), so I decided to use pavers instead.
I also took care of the drainage by routing it out the side of the house to a pop-up emitter and removed the sprinkler head. I leveled the ground using a small retaining wall and laid the pavers on top. I even put a drain in for the weep holes in the brickwork to keep water out of the walls. The entire patio is sloped away from the house properly according to building codes.
I even used leftover pavers, gravel and sand to build the 3x9 beside my garage so that my garbage and recycling bins have a home.
