Armstrong Painting & Construction An Angi Horror Story

The point: Isaiah Armstrong's work was of such poor quality that it had to be demolished and removed. This took more than a week of my time and cost me an additional $300.

Demolition

Because the work create by Isaiah Armstrong was of such poor quality and was actively damaging my property, disposing of it as quickly as possible became my first priority. Even above and beyond seeking any restitution from Mr. Armstrong. However, because of the small nature of the job, I found it difficult to find a contractor willing to remove this “work” from my property. Huntsville is a boom town, and there are much more lucrative jobs they could be taking than spending a day at my house removing this “work.”

And because I obviously could not trust Angi any longer, ultimately, I had to do it myself. One hammer swing at a time.

But before I demolished it, I decided to have a little fun with spray paint. :)

Halfway through the process I broke down and bought a demolition hammer. It was slower than using the sledgehammer, but easier on my body. In the process of doing this, I discovered yet more lazy, poor quality work by Isaiah Armstrong. This included finding concrete bag cuttings within the slab itself; Isaiah Armstrong apparently just poured concrete right over the bag debris.

Additionally, I discovered a buried sprinkler head. Despite me having marked off the locations of the sprinkler heads in the area with red flags, Isaiah Armstrong and his crew just poured concrete over a sprinkler head. Had proper site preparation work been done, this sprinkler head could have been easily removed. But since no site preparation was done, the head as buried.

All together it took a week of me working in the evenings to demolish both slabs manually and 10 trips to the City of Huntsville’s landfill to dispose or the concrete. The total disposal cost, not factoring in my time, was an additional about $300.

This brings to a total of $1,550 that Isaiah Armstrong's incompetence cost me, and that does not include a week of my time, wear on my body and my vehicle, and time spent hauling this garbage to the dump.
