Armstrong Painting & Construction An Angi Horror Story

The point: Both of the slabs Isaiah Armstrong poured were the wrong size.

Concrete Slabs Wrong Size

Figure 12. The concrete slab installed by Isaiah Armstrong next to the garage measured 46.5" (3.875 feet) by 89.5 inches (7.45 feet.)

These are the wrong dimensions, as the contract specified that the slab was to be 3x9 (36”x108”). It was instead poured to about 4x7. Also, no site preparation work was done here either. The slab was poured directly on the ground.

Isaiah Armstrong did not consult me on changes to the 3x9 slab, and at no point did I approve a slab not of the dimensions of 3x9.

Additionally, the 3x9 slab was also not the contract height of 4 inches or even the minimum code height of 3 ½ inches. It varies between 1 ½ inches and 6 inches. Again, Isaiah Armstrong was expected to excavate sufficiently to fit a 4-inch slab on a gravel and sand subbase, as any knowledgeable concrete contractor would know to do, but did not do so.

If this were not enough, further measurement of the main 15x15 slab found it to be out of square by almost a foot on one side. The measures were 15, 15, 14, 15.9.

Isaiah Armstrong did not consult me on changes to the 15x15 slab, and at no point did I approve a slab not of the dimensions of 15x15.

At no point did I agree to accept a slab of less than 4 inches, or a slab that did not meet building codes.
