Armstrong Painting & Construction An Angi Horror Story

The point: Isaiah Armstrong left debris scattered around my property and, during demolition, additional debris was found within the slab itself.

Debris Not Cleaned Up

Figure 15: Piles of debris left by Isaiah Armstrong.

Per the contract, Isaiah Armstrong was to clean up debris left behind by his work. I found two piles of hardened concrete left behind on the property, one by the back right corner of the fence and another behind the air conditioner condensing unit. I had to break these piles up with a pick and remove them from the property myself. Additional debris in the form of bag cuttings were found when I was mowing the lawn, as it clogged up the lawn mower.

Additionally, damage to the lawn was noted at the location where Isaiah Armstrong was working. I accept that some lawn damage is inevitable and is expected during any construction project, and I verbally communicated to Isaiah Armstrong during the initial consultation on May 4, 2021 that I was not concerned about damage to the lawn. I am overall not concerned about this as the lawn is hardy, healthy bermudagrass and will recover within weeks to months. However, Isaiah Armstrong verbally told me during that consultation that he would be bringing wood to help inhibit damage. This was also not done.

Finally, during demolition of Isaiah Armstrong’s shoddy, non-code work, additional debris in the form of bag cuttings was found within the slab itself, further compromising its structural integrity.

At no point did I agree to accept a slab of less than 4 inches, or a slab that did not meet building codes.
